Safer Internet Day 2018
This half-term the Digital Leaders are eagerly preparing for Safer Internet Day 2018. We are very excited to be leading a whole-school assembly to prepare the school for the event and to share our ideas about how to stay safe online. We'll also be featuring E-Safety Top Tips in our weekly newsletter each Friday and here on our webpage and we'll be designing posters to promote our Safer Internet Day workshops with E-Safety expert Tim Pinto.
This year's theme is 'A safer internet starts with you', so we hope that by educating our peers about online safety, we can help to build a safer, happier internet.
As we prepare for Safer Internet Day at the beginning of February, the Digital Leaders would like to share some of their ‘E-Safety Top Tips’ with you each week in our Friday Newsletter.
This week, our Top Tip comes from Lilidh Bell in 3/4K.
Ask an adult before opening messages from unknown senders as they may contain things that you don't want to see.
As part of our preparations for Safer Internet Day, we designed some E-Safety posters which are being displayed around school to share our knowledge and expertise with the other children. Here are just a few of the designs that we came up with!
Welcome to the home of Oatlands Junior School’s recently elected Digital Leaders.
We’re looking forward to meeting every fortnight to discuss all things Computing-related and to practise our ICT skills. It will be our job to support our teachers and peers in Computing lessons, so we’ll be busy this year making sure that we’re IT experts.
Each week, we’ll also be awarding certificates for outstanding behaviour in the ICT Suite. We’ll be on the look-out for other children who set an example for the rest of their class, listen carefully to instructions and leave the ICT Suite clean and tidy.
We’ve made a great start to our year as Digital Leaders. We spent our first half-term getting to know one another and sharing our expertise about all things digital! We’ve also given Miss Houseman some great feedback about what we like about Computing here at Oatlands Junior School and what we’d like to see more of in our Computing lessons. This half-term, we’re looking forward to designing new mouse-mats for our ICT Suite and thinking of lots of E-Safety Top Tips to share with the school in our Weekly Newsletter.
