Our Arts Exhibition celebrated the talents of all children at Oatlands and featured works from our Arts Week, this year Celebrating Difference, where children have been inspired by differently abled artists to create works in painting, drawing, mosaic, photography, sculpture, animation and printing, as well as dance.
Other works include, Celebrating Diversity which is part of our year programme in Art looking at diversity. We have learnt through inspirational artists that dreams and ambitions can be reached whatever the challenges, barriers, prejudices and discriminations there can be in life.
We were pleased this year to have members of Craft Aid International who unveiled the new sculpture, Working Together for the sculpture garden. Addy, Nick, Doreen, Gillian and their wonderful carers led by Liz have been teaching Year 6 the art of mosaic and together have created a stunning mosaic sculpture.
We were honoured to have joining us the Mayor and Mayoress of the Borough of Harrogate, Councillor Stuart Martin MBE and Mrs April Martin who kindly unveiled the new plaque for us.
Another exciting part to the evening was a dance presentation by some of our Year 6 children who had choreographed a contemporary dance routine, Proud To Be Me, inspired by the Northern School of Contemporary dance workshops Celebrating Diversity in Arts Week.
