Homework enables the children to take pride in their work, develop good work habits and allows us to assess just how much children have understood and retained. It encourages the children to continue their learning journey at home, as well as preparing them for the next stage of their education.
At Oatlands, we are now setting homework every 2 weeks, in the style of a homework booklet. The children will receive this on a Monday and return it to school almost 2 weeks later, on the Friday. The booklet will contain a range of English and maths activities, as well as space to record their daily reading and weekly times tables practice.
The homework is an opportunity for children to consolidate the learning they have been completing in lessons, or to practise previously taught objectives, in preparation for future learning.
Your child's class teacher will then identify some of the tasks to mark in class as well as give the children opportunity to share their learning with their peers. Oatlands points are awarded to children who complete the homework well.
