The Y5 and Y6 Librarians spent time in the Library this week finding books to make a display about War. Classes this week have been thinking about the 100 years since the end of World War One, and Y5 and 6 are studying World War Two.
They worked hard to find books which covered many aspects of war: rationing, the Land Army, evacuees, training for the Armed Services and details about key battles and places are some of important pages which can be read about if you go into the Library.
We have had our first meeting, where we found out how to help our classes when they visit the Library, and how to look after the Library.
Our first task for this year is to create a display of poetry books in all our classrooms ready to celebrate National Poetry Day on Thursday October 4th. We are also going to be helping in an assembly on that day.
Another job we will have is to keep our classes informed about some author visits to Ripon and Skipton Libraries, which are coming up soon. David Almond (Saturday 29th September) and Kate Wakeling (Saturday 13th October) are visiting Ripon Library. On Saturday 20th October, Ripon and Skipton Libraries are holding 'Crime Scenes Investigation Workshops' for budding CSIs to get involved in forensic detecting.
